Go Vap Orphanage
Go Vap orphanage houses over 200 children from 1 day to 18 years old and is located on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City. The majority of the children have mental or physical disabilities and the orphanage raises and educates the children. The people who care for the children are loyal, caring and diligent, but sadly their resources are limited. The orphans' rooms are often filled to maximum capacity leaving little room for playing or personal space. There aren't enough helping hands to go around to all the children and they spend most of their time in rows of cribs.
The orphanage needs regular supplies of baby items and the children need to be noticed, played with and loved.

ILACN is helping to care for these children with weekly visits to the orphanage. Teachers and staff help in the young children's rooms where babies and small children need to be fed, changed and played with. ILA volunteers also help older children with physical therapy activities and routines. The visits to the orphanage are currently every Wednesday and Saturday. If you would like to go please contact the ILACN at ilacn@ilavietnam.com.

Mural Project 2 |
23/04/08 |
Throughout March and April 2008, volunteers helped to design, build and install the second mural of an ‘under the sea’ scene. This mural was placed on the ceiling in an adjacent room of the previous Mural Project. The children immediately smiled when they saw the designs on the ceiling.
|
Mural Project 1 |
18/12/07 |
Volunteers put up a mural of a farmyard animal scene on the ceiling of a room for disabled children who spend much of their time in their beds. The colourful pictures brought smiles to the children’s faces.
